DESCRIPTION:
This nicely carved settee hails from the Swiss area of the Black Forest, and dates c. 1900. The edelweiss carvings of the back surround foliate and flower inlay surrounding inlaid, ebonized shields with stag motiffs. The seat features exuberant inlays surrounding insets of burled walnut and another larger stag inlay. The cabriole legs and aprons are nicely carved and the arm fronts feature carved gargoyles. The piece is in very good condition and the seat height is 17 1/2".
